I've compiled a bunch of rather random, but hopefully useful information on each of the nations. Most of the information comes from avatar.wikia.com, which is possibly the best site in the world if you want to know anything at all about Avatar: The Last Airbender. Then there's the 'since the war' sections, which is stuff I randomly made up for the storyline, so don't expect to find that anywhere, lol. Anyway, here's what I have. I may add on to it occasionally when I find new stuff.
FIRE NATION
country
* located on planet's equator
* country composed of string of tropical volcanic islands, many still active
* climate is warm and humid
*second largest nation both in land and population
government & economy
* absolute monarchy, led by Fire Lord
* religious authority: Great Sage & Council of Fire Sages
* most powerful economy for four nations
* strong industrial sector and extensive technologcal developments
* chief industry: metalurgy
* strong military (army, navy, air force, and specialized smaller groups)
people
* great emphasis on respect and honor, especially towards nobility and elders
* tend to have black or brown hair; amber, gold, brown, or gray eyes; and pale skin
AIR NOMADS
country
* four temples located at the top of mountains at each corner of the globe (one in the northern Earth Kingdom and three on remote islands)
* Northern and Southern temples once housed only male Airbenders; Eastern and Western temples once housed only female Airbenders
* smallest of four nations
government & economy
* monastic, led by senior monks
* small economy based entirely on limited agriculture
people
* highly spiritual; due to this, all Air Nomads are benders
* vegetarian
* tend to have dark hair when they do let it grow out
* avoid violence whenever possible
* declared a Master once he/she has fully mastered the 36 tiers of Airbending and/or creates a new Airbending technique. Mastery is marked by blue tattoos striping along the head and limbs, terminating in an arrow on the forehead, backs of the hands, and tops of the feet

* Inspired by Katara's time there long ago, the Northern Water Tribe has since started a new tradition of allowing girls to join a non-healing Waterbending class (though still separate from and not as intense as that for the boys) at the age of 14 if they so choose.
